Gurgaon To Coimbatore Bike Transport Basics: Distance, Time, And Why It Varies

Textile mills, pump and engineering workshops and PSG and Amrita students make Coimbatore one of the longest regular routes from Gurgaon.

This is a long one: about 2,355 km and 7–9 days on the road. Anyone who quotes you less than a week for a haul this size should be asked, politely, how they plan to do it. The route normally follows NH44 to Bangalore, then Hosur, Salem and Coimbatore.

Why the timing changes

At almost 2,400 km, small delays add up. The Bangalore–Salem section has heavy truck traffic, and the Western Ghats near Coimbatore get strong monsoon rain.

Besides that, four things move the date more than anything else:

  • How often carriers leave for Coimbatore. A bike booked on a day when a vehicle is already loading leaves sooner than one that waits for a full load.
  • Season. Rain on the west side from June to September and the north-east monsoon on the east coast from October to December slow trucks. Winter fog affects only the first day out of Gurgaon.
  • Where you are in the NCR. Pickup from inside Gurgaon's sectors is quickest. If you are in Gurgaon, Noida or Faridabad, mention your sector when you ask for the quote.
  • Who receives it. A delivery that needs an RWA letter or gate pass takes longer than one where the driver can park outside and hand over.

Pickup from Gurgaon: what to expect

Pickups in Gurgaon run through societies and sector roads. Guards check the vehicle against a list, and some societies allow goods vehicles only in set hours. We usually collect from places such as Sector 49, DLF Phase 1, DLF Phase 3, Sector 56 and Sohna Road.

Vehicles for Coimbatore usually leave Gurgaon through Faridabad and Palwal and join the Agra corridor, a little shorter than starting from Delhi. Peak-hour jams around IFFCO Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk and the Golf Course Road underpass can delay a late-morning loading, so an early slot works better.

If the bike is starting in Delhi rather than Gurgaon, see our Delhi to Coimbatore bike transport page, and for the home city see bike transport in Gurgaon.

How to shift my Bike from Gurgaon! - 3 Ways To Transport Your Bike From Gurgaon To Coimbatore

There are really only three options. Here is how each one works out on this route.

1. Door-to-door by covered carrier

A trained crew wraps the bike, straps it to a frame inside a covered vehicle, and the same company takes it to your Coimbatore address. For most people this is the sensible choice: about ₹6,700 to ₹9,200 for a commuter bike, 7–9 days on the road, and nothing for you to arrange apart from being there at both ends. Read more on our door-to-door bike transport page.

2. Railway parcel

On this distance, parcel trains involve more than one connection, and a bike left at a transfer station gets damaged more often than one on a single carrier. If you do try it, book a direct service where possible, and ask the parcel office at Coimbatore whether they take two-wheelers. More on that in our train vs truck guide.

3. Ride it yourself

2,355 km means 6 days of riding and 5 hotel nights. Fuel alone is about ₹4,950 for a commuter and about ₹7,450 for a 350cc bike. It is a real trip, not a relocation tool, and a long ride ages tyres, chain and brakes. Few people do it for a house move.

Extras and adjustments

  • Transit insurance: 2.5% of the declared value, with a minimum of ₹300. On a bike valued at ₹60,000 that is about ₹1,500, plus GST.
  • Express delivery: costs roughly a quarter more on the transport charge and cuts the trip to 4–6 days.
  • Depot instead of door: if you collect from or drop at a transport hub, you save about ₹750 plus GST.
  • Difficult access: if the truck cannot reach your gate, a smaller vehicle for the last stretch may cost extra. Tell us the address up front.
  • Waiting time: if the driver is kept waiting at pickup or delivery for hours, waiting charges can apply. Ask the policy before you book.

The price rises with distance, but not in a straight line. The first few hundred kilometres cost more per km than the rest, because loading, packing and paperwork are fixed. The Safety Checklist Before You Pay Any Advance for Bike Shipping from Gurgaon

Most complaints about bike shipping start with a rushed advance payment. Before you send money, run through this list.

  • Get the quote in writing. It should name the pickup address, the Coimbatore delivery address, packing, insurance, GST and the days promised.
  • Ask if the bike stays on one vehicle. Over 2,355 km, a transfer at a hub is where most damage and delay happen.
  • Ask for a contact number for the trip. Someone should pick up the phone while your bike is on the road.
  • Do not pay in full upfront. A small booking amount is fine. If someone asks for everything before pickup, that is a warning sign.
  • Do a pickup inspection. Photos or a video of the bike from all sides, with the odometer reading, and a signed condition sheet.
  • Prepare the bike. Keep fuel to about a litre, tape or disconnect the battery lead, remove loose accessories and keep one key with you. Our how to prepare your bike guide covers the rest.
  • Pay a company account. Get a receipt or invoice. Payments to personal numbers with no bill are hard to dispute later.
  • Plan the Coimbatore delivery. Gandhipuram and Town Hall are crowded, so the bike is handed over on an approach road.

List of Documents You Usually Need for Bike Transport from Gurgaon to Coimbatore (And When NOC Matters)

For a Gurgaon to Coimbatore booking, keep the papers short and clean: ownership, ID, insurance and a clear address at both ends. The longer explanation sits in our documents guide.

Keep these ready

  • Address proof: for the pickup in Gurgaon and for the delivery in Coimbatore. A rent agreement or utility bill works.
  • Insurance copy: the current policy. Third-party cover is the minimum, and the policy should not be expired on the day of loading.
  • Authority letter: if a friend, relative or the society staff hands over or receives the bike, with their ID attached.
  • Loan papers: if the RC shows a bank under hypothecation, keep the lender's consent letter or NOC with you.
  • Phone numbers and landmarks: one contact in Gurgaon for the guard and one in Coimbatore for the driver.
  • RC (registration certificate): a copy goes with the bike; you keep the original. Gurgaon bikes carry an HR-26 plate, though many local bikes are still on DL plates.

When NOC matters

An NOC is not needed just to put a bike on a carrier. It matters when the bike will live in Tamil Nadu for a long time. Under Section 47 of the Motor Vehicles Act, a vehicle kept in another state for over 12 months has to be registered afresh there. For that you need a No Objection Certificate (Form 28) from the registering authority of the bike, normally the Gurugram RTO for an HR-26 plate or the Delhi RTO for a DL plate, and then you register with the RTO in Coimbatore.

If the move is temporary, for a course or a short posting, you can usually keep the existing registration and skip the NOC. When in doubt, apply for the NOC before the bike leaves Gurgaon. Clear any pending challans first, since they can hold the application up. Owners who qualify for a BH series plate do not need re-registration at all.

Complete Step-By-Step Booking Process of Bike Transport from Gurgaon to Coimbatore: Pickup To Delivery

Here is the sequence on a typical booking. Our how it works page has more detail.

  1. Start with the form. Give your name, number and bike. If the bike is a Classic 350 or Himalayan and the drop is near RS Puram, mention it so the quote fits.
  2. Compare and confirm. You get a written quote with the days. Pay a small booking amount only after reading it.
  3. Prepare the bike. Drain the tank to about a litre, remove accessories and clean it so scratches show up in the photos.
  4. Pickup in Delhi NCR. The crew inspects the bike with you, photographs it, wraps and straps it, and gives you a signed condition sheet.
  5. Transit to Coimbatore. Expect about 7–9 days on the road. You get the driver or coordinator number for updates.
  6. Be reachable. The driver rings ahead. Have the gate pass or society permission ready so the vehicle is not turned away.
  7. Inspect and close. Match the bike to the pickup photos, start it, and note any damage on the paper before you sign and pay.

In Coimbatore we usually deliver to RS Puram, Peelamedu, Saravanampatti, Singanallur, Gandhipuram and Race Course. Gandhipuram and Town Hall are crowded, so the bike is handed over on an approach road.

Mistakes People Make On This Bike Transport Route from Gurgaon (And How You Avoid Them)

  • Booking a pickup at peak hours. Between 9 and 11 am and from 5 to 8 pm the roads around Golf Course Road and Hero Honda Chowk are jammed. Ask for an early slot.
  • Trusting a verbal promise. If the days or the price are not on paper, they are not a promise.
  • Skipping the photos. Without pickup photos, a damage claim becomes your word against theirs.
  • Not checking who signs. Whoever signs at delivery accepts the bike as is, so have the right person there.
  • A mistake specific to Coimbatore. Choosing the quickest quote on a 2,000-plus km route. A low price usually means a stop-and-load model with long waits.
  • Not planning the drop. Typical delivery areas include RS Puram, Peelamedu, Saravanampatti, Singanallur, Gandhipuram and Race Course. Gandhipuram and Town Hall are crowded, so the bike is handed over on an approach road.

Gurgaon to Coimbatore bike transport costs ₹6,150 to ₹8,150 for a scooter, ₹6,700 to ₹9,200 for a commuter bike, and ₹8,050 to ₹11,250 for a Royal Enfield, including packing, GST and door pickup and delivery. Insurance is extra.
Plan on 7–9 days for the 2,355 km trip to Coimbatore, or 4–6 days with express. Weather and city entry timings are the usual reasons for a slip.
Yes, from sectors, DLF phases and gated societies. The crew needs the resident's name and flat number at the gate, and some societies want the vehicle number a day earlier, so ask your RWA office.
You need a copy of the RC, an ID proof, the insurance copy and, if someone else is handing over, an authorisation letter. A finance NOC is needed if the bike is on a loan. An RTO NOC is needed later if you want to re-register in Tamil Nadu.
Leave only about a litre. A full tank is a fire risk on a loaded vehicle, and many carriers will not accept it.
Insurance is an add-on, not automatic. It is charged at 2.5% of what you declare, never below ₹300, and you should see the cover note before paying the balance.
Yes. The crew collects from Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad as well as Gurgaon itself. Give the sector or society name and the nearest landmark.
Yes, since the distance is about 200 km more and the carrier adds Tamil Nadu tolls.
A token booking amount is fine. The balance is paid at delivery, once the bike matches the pickup photos. A demand for the whole fare before pickup is a warning sign.
