Delhi To Ahmedabad Bike Transport Basics: Distance, Time, And Why It Varies
Textile traders, pharma staff and GIFT City professionals make Ahmedabad a regular destination. This is a straight run, with few of the ghat sections that complicate routes further south.
The road distance is about 950 km and the usual transit is 3–5 days from the day the carrier leaves Delhi. Add a day at either end for pickup and for the delivery appointment, and you have the real timeline. The route normally follows NH48 through Jaipur, Ajmer and Udaipur, then down to Ahmedabad on a mostly four-lane road.
| Road distance | About 950 km |
|---|---|
| Standard transit | 3–5 days |
| Express transit | 2–4 days |
| Starting price (commuter bike) | ₹4,300 onwards |
| Pickup | Delhi and NCR (Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad) |
| Delivery | Door delivery in Ahmedabad and nearby areas |

Why the timing changes
Summer heat is hard on tyres but rarely delays a truck. The real variable is the Rajasthan leg, where fog in winter mornings can slow the first day.
Besides that, four things move the date more than anything else:
- How often carriers leave for Ahmedabad. A bike booked on a day when a vehicle is already loading leaves sooner than one that waits for a full load.
- Season. June to September is the slow season for ghat and coastal sections. Winter is generally smooth, apart from morning fog out of Delhi.
- Where you are in the NCR. Pickup from Delhi proper is quickest. If you are in Gurgaon, Noida or Faridabad, mention your sector when you ask for the quote.
- Who receives it. A delivery that needs an RWA letter or gate pass takes longer than one where the driver can park outside and hand over.
How to Ship my Bike! - 3 Ways To Transport Your Bike From Delhi To Ahmedabad
There are really only three options. Here is how each one works out on this route.
1. Door-to-door by covered carrier
A trained crew wraps the bike, straps it to a frame inside a covered vehicle, and the same company takes it to your Ahmedabad address. For most people this is the sensible choice: about ₹4,300 to ₹5,900 for a commuter bike, 3–5 days on the road, and nothing for you to arrange apart from being there at both ends. Read more on our door-to-door bike transport page.
2. Railway parcel
Possible, but slow. The bike goes by parcel train from a Delhi station, and you collect it at Ahmedabad. Packing is on you, the tank must be nearly empty, and transit depends on which trains run that week, so it can take longer than a carrier. If the parcel office at Ahmedabad cannot take two-wheelers, you are stuck, so ask first. See our train vs truck comparison.
3. Ride it yourself
950 km is 3 days of riding at a comfortable pace, and 2 nights on the road. Fuel is around ₹2,000 for a commuter bike (about ₹3,000 for a 350cc Royal Enfield). Toll is free for bikes, but hotels, food and a return ticket are not. It works if you want the trip. It does not work if you are in a hurry or the bike is new and still running in.

For most people moving house or job, the covered carrier is the one that makes sense. We handle everything from motorcycles and scooters to Royal Enfield and sports bikes.
Delhi To Ahmedabad Bike Transport Costs: What You’re Really Paying For
Here are the numbers for a bike going from Delhi to Ahmedabad. They include standard packing, loading, GST and door pickup and delivery. Insurance is optional and comes on top.
| Bike type | Price range (incl. GST) | Delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Scooter / moped (up to 125cc) | ₹3,950 – ₹5,250 | 3–5 days |
| Commuter bike (100–160cc) | ₹4,300 – ₹5,900 | 3–5 days |
| Royal Enfield / cruiser (350–650cc) | ₹5,200 – ₹7,250 | 3–5 days |
| Sports bike (300cc+) | ₹8,200 – ₹11,500 | 3–5 days |
| Superbike (650cc+) | Quoted after we know the exact model | |
Where the money goes (commuter bike, mid-range quote of ₹5,100)
| Item | Approx. amount |
|---|---|
| Line-haul freight (Delhi to Ahmedabad) | ₹3,050 |
| Loading, strapping and standard wrap | ₹500 |
| Door pickup and door delivery | ₹750 |
| GST at 18% | ₹800 |
| Total | ₹5,100 |
What can change the final figure
- Transit insurance: optional cover at 2.5% of what you declare, never below ₹300. Declare ₹60,000 and it comes to about ₹1,500 plus GST.
- Express delivery: costs roughly a quarter more on the transport charge and cuts the trip to 2–4 days.
- Depot instead of door: if you collect from or drop at a transport hub, you save about ₹750 plus GST.
- Premium wrap: adds about ₹900 for extra padding and a crate-style frame, worth it for a new or high-value bike.
- Difficult access: a narrow lane or a low basement can mean a smaller vehicle for the last stretch, and that can cost extra. Say so when you ask for the quote.
The price rises with distance, but not in a straight line. The first few hundred kilometres cost more per km than the rest, because loading, packing and paperwork are fixed. The Safety Checklist Before You Pay Any Advance for Bike Shipping from Delhi
Most complaints about bike shipping start with a rushed advance payment. Before you send money, run through this list.
- Get the quote in writing. It should name the pickup address, the Ahmedabad delivery address, packing, insurance, GST and the days promised.
- Ask if the bike stays on one vehicle. Over 950 km, a transfer at a hub is where most damage and delay happen.
- Do a pickup inspection. Photos or a video of the bike from all sides, with the odometer reading, and a signed condition sheet.
- Do not pay in full upfront. A small booking amount is fine. If someone asks for everything before pickup, that is a warning sign.
- Check the company is real. Ask for the GST number, the registered office address and a landline or office you can visit or video call. Search the name with reviews.
- Prepare the bike. Keep fuel to about a litre, tape or disconnect the battery lead, remove loose accessories and keep one key with you. Our how to prepare your bike guide covers the rest.
- Ask for a contact number for the trip. Someone should pick up the phone while your bike is on the road.
- Plan the Ahmedabad delivery. Walled-city areas such as Kalupur and Khadia have narrow lanes where a truck cannot go, so we hand over near the nearest main road.
Documents You Usually Need for Bike Transport from Delhi to Ahmedabad (And When NOC Matters)
To hand over the bike you need very little. The real paperwork starts after delivery, if you plan to register the bike in Gujarat.
- RC (registration certificate): a copy goes with the bike, and the original stays with you.
- Letter of authority: needed when a relative or friend hands over or receives the bike, with their ID attached.
- Valid insurance: a copy of the bike's current policy.
- Contact details: a phone number and landmark for both Delhi and Ahmedabad.
- Finance NOC: if the bike is on a loan (hypothecation), a letter from the bank or NBFC allowing the move.
- ID proof: Aadhaar, driving licence or passport of the owner.
When NOC matters
Moving a bike to another state does not need an NOC for the transport itself. It matters when you want to re-register the bike in Gujarat. Under the Motor Vehicles Act, a registration from another state stays valid for twelve months, and after that you must apply for a new registration number. The Delhi transport office issues the NOC for that, and if the bike is financed, the lender has to clear it first.
Ahmedabad has more than one RTO office, and the one for your locality handles re-registration; the state series is GJ.
Keep two things in mind. A BH (Bharat) series plate does not need re-registration after a state change, if you are eligible for one. And rules for older vehicles in Delhi–NCR have shifted over the years, so confirm the current position for your bike's age before you book. Step-By-Step Booking Process of Bike Transport from Delhi to Ahmedabad: Pickup To Delivery
This is how a normal booking runs. Our how it works page has more detail.
- Start with the form. Give your name, number and bike. If the bike is a Classic 350 or Himalayan and the drop is near Satellite, mention it so the quote fits.
- Compare and confirm. You get a written quote with the days. Pay a small booking amount only after reading it.
- Get the bike ready. Leave about a litre of petrol, take off bags and phone mounts, and wash it so existing marks are clear. June to September is the slow season for ghat and coastal sections. Winter is generally smooth, apart from morning fog out of Delhi.
- Pickup day. Someone should be at the house to sign. The bike is photographed from all sides, wrapped, strapped and loaded.
- While it travels. Keep your phone on. A delay from weather or a breakdown is reported to you, not hidden until the due date.
- Delivery slot. The driver calls before arrival. Share the exact address, gate and a person who can sign.
- Inspect and close. Match the bike to the pickup photos, start it, and note any damage on the paper before you sign and pay.
In Ahmedabad we usually deliver to Satellite, Bopal, SG Highway, Maninagar, Gota and Navrangpura. Walled-city areas such as Kalupur and Khadia have narrow lanes where a truck cannot go, so we hand over near the nearest main road.

Mistakes People Make On This Bike Shipping Route (And How You Avoid Them)
- Ignoring the weather. June to September is the slow season for ghat and coastal sections. Winter is generally smooth, apart from morning fog out of Delhi. Ask for a flexible window.
- Leaving a full tank. Carriers can refuse a bike with lots of fuel. Keep about a litre.
- Skipping the photos. Without pickup photos, a damage claim becomes your word against theirs.
- A mistake specific to Ahmedabad. Booking a pickup in Delhi for a date when your Ahmedabad flat is not ready. Storage at a depot costs extra, so book transport once you have a delivery address and a person to receive it.
- Not planning the drop. Typical delivery areas include Satellite, Bopal, SG Highway, Maninagar, Gota and Navrangpura. Walled-city areas such as Kalupur and Khadia have narrow lanes where a truck cannot go, so we hand over near the nearest main road.
