Delhi To Chandigarh Bike Transport Basics: Distance, Time, And Why It Varies
Chandigarh is a union territory, and many central and Punjab–Haryana government and tricity (Mohali, Panchkula) postings come from Delhi.
Expect about 250 km on the road and 2–3 days from pickup to delivery. It is a short enough haul that the day you book matters more than the quote you pick. The route normally follows NH44 through Panipat, Karnal and Ambala, about four hours by road.
| Road distance | About 250 km |
|---|---|
| Standard transit | 2–3 days |
| Express transit | same day or next day |
| Starting price (commuter bike) | ₹2,800 onwards |
| Pickup | Delhi and NCR (Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad) |
| Delivery | Door delivery in Chandigarh and nearby areas |

Why the timing changes
Chandigarh has strict traffic and entry rules for goods vehicles. The delay is usually in the last 20 km and not in the highway.
Besides that, four things move the date more than anything else:
- How often carriers leave for Chandigarh. A bike booked on a day when a vehicle is already loading leaves sooner than one that waits for a full load.
- Season. Dense fog between late December and January is the usual slowdown on this side of the country. Summers are hot but rarely change the schedule.
- Where you are in the NCR. Pickup from Delhi proper is quickest. If you are in Gurgaon, Noida or Faridabad, mention your sector when you ask for the quote.
- Who receives it. A delivery that needs an RWA letter or gate pass takes longer than one where the driver can park outside and hand over.
How to Ship my Bike! - 3 Ways To Transport Your Bike From Delhi To Chandigarh
People usually ask which method is best, and the honest answer depends on distance, the bike, and how much you want to handle yourself.
1. Door-to-door by covered carrier
A trained crew wraps the bike, straps it to a frame inside a covered vehicle, and the same company takes it to your Chandigarh address. For most people this is the sensible choice: about ₹2,800 to ₹3,850 for a commuter bike, 2–3 days on the road, and nothing for you to arrange apart from being there at both ends. Read more on our door-to-door bike transport page.
2. Railway parcel
Indian Railways does carry two-wheelers as parcel. You book at the parcel office, the bike is packed (the tank must be nearly empty), and it travels station to station. You then collect it from Chandigarh yourself, and get it home. At 250 km the saving over a carrier is small and the handling is rougher. Our train vs truck comparison goes through it in detail.
3. Ride it yourself
About 250 km takes one long day on a bike. Fuel at roughly 45 km a litre and ₹95 a litre comes to about ₹550. Two-wheelers are exempt from toll, which helps. You also have to get yourself back home or onward after riding one way, which people forget while comparing prices.

If you have time and a healthy bike, riding is cheapest. If you are travelling with luggage, family or on a train, the carrier is the easier option. We handle everything from motorcycles and scooters to Royal Enfield and sports bikes.
Delhi To Chandigarh Bike Transport Costs: What You’re Really Paying For
Here are the numbers for a bike going from Delhi to Chandigarh. They include standard packing, loading, GST and door pickup and delivery. Insurance is optional and comes on top.
| Bike type | Price range (incl. GST) | Delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Scooter / moped (up to 125cc) | ₹2,600 – ₹3,400 | 2–3 days |
| Commuter bike (100–160cc) | ₹2,800 – ₹3,850 | 2–3 days |
| Royal Enfield / cruiser (350–650cc) | ₹3,350 – ₹4,700 | 2–3 days |
| Sports bike (300cc+) | ₹5,300 – ₹7,450 | 2–3 days |
| Superbike (650cc+) | Quoted after we know the exact model | |
Where the money goes (commuter bike, mid-range quote of ₹3,300)
| Item | Approx. amount |
|---|---|
| Line-haul freight (Delhi to Chandigarh) | ₹1,750 |
| Loading, strapping and standard wrap | ₹300 |
| Door pickup and door delivery | ₹750 |
| GST at 18% | ₹500 |
| Total | ₹3,300 |
What can change the final figure
- Transit insurance: 2.5% of the declared value, with a minimum of ₹300. On a bike valued at ₹90,000 that is about ₹2,250, plus GST.
- Express delivery: adds about 25% to the transport portion and brings the time down to same day or next day.
- Depot instead of door: if you can bring the bike to a hub or collect it from one, the ₹750 door charge and its GST drop off.
- Premium wrap: costs about ₹900 more for thicker padding and a frame around the bike. Sensible for a new or expensive machine.
- Waiting time: a driver held up for hours at either end may bill for the wait. Ask what the rule is before you book.
The price rises with distance, but not in a straight line. The first few hundred kilometres cost more per km than the rest, because loading, packing and paperwork are fixed. The Safety Checklist Before You Pay Any Advance for Bike Shipping from Delhi
Most complaints about bike shipping start with a rushed advance payment. Before you send money, run through this list.
- Get the quote in writing. It should name the pickup address, the Chandigarh delivery address, packing, insurance, GST and the days promised.
- Ask if the bike stays on one vehicle. Over 250 km, a transfer at a hub is where most damage and delay happen.
- Inspect at pickup. Shoot photos or a short video of every side of the bike, note the odometer, and get a condition sheet signed by the crew.
- Pay into a business account and take an invoice. A transfer to someone's personal number with no bill leaves you with nothing to show later.
- Keep the advance small. A booking amount is normal. Anyone who wants the full payment before the bike has even been picked up deserves suspicion.
- Read the insurance. Ask for the policy copy, what is covered (theft, accident, damage in loading), the excess, and who to call after a problem.
- Verify who you are paying. A genuine company will give you a GST number, a registered address and an office phone. Check them, and read the Google reviews.
- Plan the Chandigarh delivery. Many sectors restrict commercial vehicles at day, so we deliver in the early morning.
Documents You Usually Need for Bike Transport from Delhi to Chandigarh (And When NOC Matters)
Crew at pickup will ask for a short set of documents. Registration in Chandigarh is a separate job that you do after the bike arrives.
- RC book or smart card: hand over a photocopy and keep the original yourself.
- Insurance copy: the current policy, not an expired one. Third-party cover is the minimum.
- Contact details: a phone number and landmark for both Delhi and Chandigarh.
- Authorisation letter: if someone other than the owner hands over or receives the bike, with their ID.
- Owner's ID: any one of Aadhaar, driving licence or passport, with the same name as the RC.
- Finance NOC: if the bike is on a loan (hypothecation), a letter from the bank or NBFC allowing the move.
When NOC matters
Moving a bike to another state does not need an NOC for the transport itself. It matters when you want to re-register the bike in Chandigarh. Under the Motor Vehicles Act, a registration from another state stays valid for twelve months, and after that you must apply for a new registration number. The Delhi transport office issues the NOC for that, and if the bike is financed, the lender has to clear it first.
Chandigarh uses the CH-01 series, and re-registration needs your Delhi NOC plus proof of address.
One more point. If you qualify for the BH (Bharat) series, you do not need to re-register when you move states. Also check the current rules on older vehicles in Delhi–NCR with the transport department, because they have changed more than once. Step-By-Step Booking Process of Bike Transport from Delhi to Chandigarh: Pickup To Delivery
Most bookings follow these seven steps. Our how it works page has more detail.
- Ask for a quote. Fill the form at the top of this page or call +91 96713 11891. Share the bike model, pickup area and the Chandigarh address.
- Read the quote. For 250 km it should show the total with GST, about 2–3 days on the road, and what is included. A commuter bike on this route starts near ₹2,800.
- Clear the bike. Remove the helmet lock gadgets, mirrors-mounted cameras and luggage. Keep one key and the RC with you.
- Pickup in Delhi NCR. The crew inspects the bike with you, photographs it, wraps and straps it, and gives you a signed condition sheet.
- While it travels. Keep your phone on. A delay from weather or a breakdown is reported to you, not hidden until the due date.
- Be reachable. The driver rings ahead. Have the gate pass or society permission ready so the vehicle is not turned away.
- Inspect and close. Match the bike to the pickup photos, start it, and note any damage on the paper before you sign and pay.
In Chandigarh we usually deliver to Sector 17, Sector 22, Sector 35, Manimajra, Mohali and Panchkula. Many sectors restrict commercial vehicles at day, so we deliver in the early morning.

Mistakes People Make On This Bike Shipping Route (And How You Avoid Them)
- Skipping the photos. Without pickup photos, a damage claim becomes your word against theirs.
- Ignoring the weather. Dense fog between late December and January is the usual slowdown on this side of the country. Summers are hot but rarely change the schedule. Ask for a flexible window.
- Leaving accessories on. Mirrors, GPS holders, saddlebags and phone mounts go missing or break. Take them off.
- A mistake specific to Chandigarh. Treating Mohali and Panchkula as Chandigarh. They are in different states and have separate RTOs.
- Not planning the drop. Typical delivery areas include Sector 17, Sector 22, Sector 35, Manimajra, Mohali and Panchkula. Many sectors restrict commercial vehicles at day, so we deliver in the early morning.
