Delhi To Lucknow Bike Transport Basics: Distance, Time, And Why It Varies
Government transfers, civil-service postings and a lot of students keep Lucknow on our weekly schedule. The expressway route has made this one of the more predictable runs in the north.
Expect about 555 km on the road and 3–4 days from pickup to delivery. It is a short enough haul that the day you book matters more than the quote you pick. The route normally follows the Yamuna Expressway to Agra and then the Agra–Lucknow Expressway, a fast and mostly empty road.
| Road distance | About 555 km |
|---|---|
| Standard transit | 3–4 days |
| Express transit | 1–2 days |
| Starting price (commuter bike) | ₹3,250 onwards |
| Pickup | Delhi and NCR (Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad) |
| Delivery | Door delivery in Lucknow and nearby areas |

Why the timing changes
Expressways are quick, but fog from December to January can force trucks to halt for hours, and a delay at Noida's exit can set the whole day back.
Besides that, four things move the date more than anything else:
- How often carriers leave for Lucknow. A bike booked on a day when a vehicle is already loading leaves sooner than one that waits for a full load.
- Season. Winter fog on the Uttar Pradesh stretch and monsoon flooding between July and September are the two seasons that stretch delivery dates.
- Where you are in the NCR. Pickup from Delhi proper is quickest. If you are in Gurgaon, Noida or Faridabad, mention your sector when you ask for the quote.
- Who receives it. A delivery that needs an RWA letter or gate pass takes longer than one where the driver can park outside and hand over.
How to Ship my Bike! - 3 Ways To Transport Your Bike From Delhi To Lucknow
People usually ask which method is best, and the honest answer depends on distance, the bike, and how much you want to handle yourself.
1. Door-to-door by covered carrier
A trained crew wraps the bike, straps it to a frame inside a covered vehicle, and the same company takes it to your Lucknow address. For most people this is the sensible choice: about ₹3,250 to ₹4,500 for a commuter bike, 3–4 days on the road, and nothing for you to arrange apart from being there at both ends. Read more on our door-to-door bike transport page.
2. Railway parcel
Indian Railways does carry two-wheelers as parcel. You book at the parcel office, the bike is packed (the tank must be nearly empty), and it travels station to station. You then collect it from Lucknow yourself, and get it home. At 555 km the saving over a carrier is small and the handling is rougher. Our train vs truck comparison goes through it in detail.
3. Ride it yourself
About 555 km takes 2 days on a bike. Fuel at roughly 45 km a litre and ₹95 a litre comes to about ₹1,150. Two-wheelers are exempt from toll, which helps. You also have to get yourself back home or onward after riding one way, which people forget while comparing prices.

If you have time and a healthy bike, riding is cheapest. If you are travelling with luggage, family or on a train, the carrier is the easier option. We handle everything from motorcycles and scooters to Royal Enfield and sports bikes.
Delhi To Lucknow Bike Transport Costs: What You’re Really Paying For
Here are the numbers for a bike going from Delhi to Lucknow. They include standard packing, loading, GST and door pickup and delivery. Insurance is optional and comes on top.
| Bike type | Price range (incl. GST) | Delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Scooter / moped (up to 125cc) | ₹3,000 – ₹3,950 | 3–4 days |
| Commuter bike (100–160cc) | ₹3,250 – ₹4,500 | 3–4 days |
| Royal Enfield / cruiser (350–650cc) | ₹3,900 – ₹5,500 | 3–4 days |
| Sports bike (300cc+) | ₹6,200 – ₹8,700 | 3–4 days |
| Superbike (650cc+) | Quoted after we know the exact model | |
Where the money goes (commuter bike, mid-range quote of ₹3,900)
| Item | Approx. amount |
|---|---|
| Line-haul freight (Delhi to Lucknow) | ₹2,200 |
| Loading, strapping and standard wrap | ₹350 |
| Door pickup and door delivery | ₹750 |
| GST at 18% | ₹600 |
| Total | ₹3,900 |
Extras and adjustments
- Transit insurance: 2.5% of the declared value, with a minimum of ₹300. On a bike valued at ₹90,000 that is about ₹2,250, plus GST.
- Express delivery: costs roughly a quarter more on the transport charge and cuts the trip to 1–2 days.
- Premium wrap: adds about ₹900 for extra padding and a crate-style frame, worth it for a new or high-value bike.
- Waiting time: a driver held up for hours at either end may bill for the wait. Ask what the rule is before you book.
- Difficult access: if the truck cannot reach your gate, a smaller vehicle for the last stretch may cost extra. Tell us the address up front.
The price rises with distance, but not in a straight line. The first few hundred kilometres cost more per km than the rest, because loading, packing and paperwork are fixed. The Safety Checklist Before You Pay Any Advance for Bike Shipping from Delhi
Most complaints about bike shipping start with a rushed advance payment. Before you send money, run through this list.
- Get the quote in writing. It should name the pickup address, the Lucknow delivery address, packing, insurance, GST and the days promised.
- Ask if the bike stays on one vehicle. Over 555 km, a transfer at a hub is where most damage and delay happen.
- Prepare the bike. Keep fuel to about a litre, tape or disconnect the battery lead, remove loose accessories and keep one key with you. Our how to prepare your bike guide covers the rest.
- Get a driver or coordinator number. You should be able to reach a real person while the bike is moving.
- Inspect at pickup. Shoot photos or a short video of every side of the bike, note the odometer, and get a condition sheet signed by the crew.
- Keep the advance small. A booking amount is normal. Anyone who wants the full payment before the bike has even been picked up deserves suspicion.
- Read the insurance. Ask for the policy copy, what is covered (theft, accident, damage in loading), the excess, and who to call after a problem.
- Plan the Lucknow delivery. Hazratganj and the old city around Chowk are congested during the day, so we plan those deliveries for early morning.
Documents You Usually Need for Bike Transport from Delhi to Lucknow (And When NOC Matters)
To hand over the bike you need very little. The real paperwork starts after delivery, if you plan to register the bike in Uttar Pradesh.
- RC (registration certificate): a copy goes with the bike, and the original stays with you.
- Insurance copy: the current policy, not an expired one. Third-party cover is the minimum.
- Letter of authority: needed when a relative or friend hands over or receives the bike, with their ID attached.
- Addresses and phone numbers: a working contact and a landmark at the Delhi end and at the Lucknow end.
- Finance NOC: if the bike is on a loan (hypothecation), a letter from the bank or NBFC allowing the move.
- ID proof: Aadhaar, driving licence or passport of the owner.
When NOC matters
The transport itself runs without an NOC. The need comes up when you register the bike in Uttar Pradesh: the old registration works there for twelve months, and after that a new number is required. Delhi's transport office gives the NOC, and a financed bike needs the lender's clearance before it can.
Lucknow vehicles carry the UP-32 series, and your Delhi NOC plus a Lucknow address proof are what the RTO asks for.
Two extra notes: owners who qualify for the BH series can skip re-registration altogether, and the rules on older vehicles in Delhi–NCR keep changing, so it is worth confirming where your bike stands before you pay anyone. For a full list, see our documents required for bike transport article.
Step-By-Step Booking Process of Bike Transport from Delhi to Lucknow: Pickup To Delivery
Most bookings follow these seven steps. Our how it works page has more detail.
- Send your details. The form above takes a minute. We need the bike model, whether it starts, and the two addresses: one in Okhla or elsewhere in Delhi NCR, one in Lucknow.
- Read the quote. For 555 km it should show the total with GST, about 3–4 days on the road, and what is included. A commuter bike on this route starts near ₹3,250.
- Get the bike ready. Leave about a litre of petrol, take off bags and phone mounts, and wash it so existing marks are clear. Winter fog on the Uttar Pradesh stretch and monsoon flooding between July and September are the two seasons that stretch delivery dates.
- Pickup in Delhi NCR. The crew inspects the bike with you, photographs it, wraps and straps it, and gives you a signed condition sheet.
- On the road. The carrier follows the Yamuna Expressway to Agra and then the Agra–Lucknow Expressway. Ask for a call at the main halts; that is normal on a 555 km run.
- Delivery slot. The driver calls before arrival. Share the exact address, gate and a person who can sign.
- Receive the bike. Walk around it with the pickup photos in hand. Sign only after you are satisfied, and keep your copy of the sheet.
In Lucknow we usually deliver to Gomti Nagar, Hazratganj, Aliganj, Indira Nagar, Alambagh and Jankipuram. Hazratganj and the old city around Chowk are congested during the day, so we plan those deliveries for early morning.

Mistakes People Make On This Bike Shipping Route (And How You Avoid Them)
- Trusting a verbal promise. If the days or the price are not on paper, they are not a promise.
- Ignoring the weather. Winter fog on the Uttar Pradesh stretch and monsoon flooding between July and September are the two seasons that stretch delivery dates. Ask for a flexible window.
- Forgetting the second key. Hand over only one, and keep the other with you.
- A mistake specific to Lucknow. Booking a train parcel without confirming Lucknow parcel-office hours. If you arrive after closing, the bike sits at the station and you pay for each extra day.
- Not planning the drop. Typical delivery areas include Gomti Nagar, Hazratganj, Aliganj, Indira Nagar, Alambagh and Jankipuram. Hazratganj and the old city around Chowk are congested during the day, so we plan those deliveries for early morning.
