Delhi To Gwalior Bike Transport Basics: Distance, Time, And Why It Varies
Gwalior is a convenient mid-distance drop on the Delhi–south corridor. IIITM students, army staff and families heading home are the usual customers.
Expect about 320 km on the road and 2–3 days from pickup to delivery. It is a short enough haul that the day you book matters more than the quote you pick. The route normally follows the Yamuna Expressway to Agra, then NH44 to Gwalior.
| Road distance | About 320 km |
|---|---|
| Standard transit | 2–3 days |
| Express transit | 1–2 days |
| Starting price (commuter bike) | ₹2,800 onwards |
| Pickup | Delhi and NCR (Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad) |
| Delivery | Door delivery in Gwalior and nearby areas |

Why the timing changes
Fog is the main delay between Agra and Gwalior in winter. Otherwise, vehicles deliver the next day.
Besides that, four things move the date more than anything else:
- How often carriers leave for Gwalior. A bike booked on a day when a vehicle is already loading leaves sooner than one that waits for a full load.
- Season. Dense fog between late December and January is the usual slowdown on this side of the country. Summers are hot but rarely change the schedule.
- Where you are in the NCR. Pickup from Delhi proper is quickest. If you are in Gurgaon, Noida or Faridabad, mention your sector when you ask for the quote.
- Who receives it. A delivery that needs an RWA letter or gate pass takes longer than one where the driver can park outside and hand over.
How to Ship my Bike! - 3 Ways To Transport Your Bike From Delhi To Gwalior
People usually ask which method is best, and the honest answer depends on distance, the bike, and how much you want to handle yourself.
1. Door-to-door by covered carrier
A trained crew wraps the bike, straps it to a frame inside a covered vehicle, and the same company takes it to your Gwalior address. For most people this is the sensible choice: about ₹2,800 to ₹3,850 for a commuter bike, 2–3 days on the road, and nothing for you to arrange apart from being there at both ends. Read more on our door-to-door bike transport page.
2. Railway parcel
Indian Railways does carry two-wheelers as parcel. You book at the parcel office, the bike is packed (the tank must be nearly empty), and it travels station to station. You then collect it from Gwalior yourself, and get it home. At 320 km the saving over a carrier is small and the handling is rougher. Our train vs truck comparison goes through it in detail.
3. Ride it yourself
About 320 km takes one long day on a bike. Fuel at roughly 45 km a litre and ₹95 a litre comes to about ₹700. Two-wheelers are exempt from toll, which helps. You also have to get yourself back home or onward after riding one way, which people forget while comparing prices.

If you have time and a healthy bike, riding is cheapest. If you are travelling with luggage, family or on a train, the carrier is the easier option. We handle everything from motorcycles and scooters to Royal Enfield and sports bikes.
Delhi To Gwalior Bike Transport Costs: What You’re Really Paying For
Here are the numbers for a bike going from Delhi to Gwalior. They include standard packing, loading, GST and door pickup and delivery. Insurance is optional and comes on top.
| Bike type | Price range (incl. GST) | Delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Scooter / moped (up to 125cc) | ₹2,600 – ₹3,400 | 2–3 days |
| Commuter bike (100–160cc) | ₹2,800 – ₹3,850 | 2–3 days |
| Royal Enfield / cruiser (350–650cc) | ₹3,350 – ₹4,700 | 2–3 days |
| Sports bike (300cc+) | ₹5,300 – ₹7,450 | 2–3 days |
| Superbike (650cc+) | Quoted after we know the exact model | |
Where the money goes (commuter bike, mid-range quote of ₹3,300)
| Item | Approx. amount |
|---|---|
| Line-haul freight (Delhi to Gwalior) | ₹1,750 |
| Loading, strapping and standard wrap | ₹300 |
| Door pickup and door delivery | ₹750 |
| GST at 18% | ₹500 |
| Total | ₹3,300 |
Extras and adjustments
- Transit insurance: 2.5% of the declared value, with a minimum of ₹300. On a bike valued at ₹90,000 that is about ₹2,250, plus GST.
- Express delivery: costs roughly a quarter more on the transport charge and cuts the trip to 1–2 days.
- Depot instead of door: if you can bring the bike to a hub or collect it from one, the ₹750 door charge and its GST drop off.
- Waiting time: a driver held up for hours at either end may bill for the wait. Ask what the rule is before you book.
- Premium wrap: adds about ₹900 for extra padding and a crate-style frame, worth it for a new or high-value bike.
The price rises with distance, but not in a straight line. The first few hundred kilometres cost more per km than the rest, because loading, packing and paperwork are fixed. The Safety Checklist Before You Pay Any Advance for Bike Shipping from Delhi
Most complaints about bike shipping start with a rushed advance payment. Before you send money, run through this list.
- Get the quote in writing. It should name the pickup address, the Gwalior delivery address, packing, insurance, GST and the days promised.
- Ask if the bike stays on one vehicle. Over 320 km, a transfer at a hub is where most damage and delay happen.
- Get a driver or coordinator number. You should be able to reach a real person while the bike is moving.
- Read the insurance. Ask for the policy copy, what is covered (theft, accident, damage in loading), the excess, and who to call after a problem.
- Inspect at pickup. Shoot photos or a short video of every side of the bike, note the odometer, and get a condition sheet signed by the crew.
- Prepare the bike. Keep fuel to about a litre, tape or disconnect the battery lead, remove loose accessories and keep one key with you. Our how to prepare your bike guide covers the rest.
- Keep the advance small. A booking amount is normal. Anyone who wants the full payment before the bike has even been picked up deserves suspicion.
- Plan the Gwalior delivery. Lashkar's old lanes are narrow and busy, so we use the nearest main road.
Documents You Usually Need for Bike Transport from Delhi to Gwalior (And When NOC Matters)
Crew at pickup will ask for a short set of documents. Registration in Madhya Pradesh is a separate job that you do after the bike arrives.
- RC book or smart card: hand over a photocopy and keep the original yourself.
- Authorisation letter: if someone other than the owner hands over or receives the bike, with their ID.
- Valid insurance: a copy of the bike's current policy.
- Finance NOC: if the bike is on a loan (hypothecation), a letter from the bank or NBFC allowing the move.
- ID proof: Aadhaar, driving licence or passport of the owner.
- Contact details: a phone number and landmark for both Delhi and Gwalior.
When NOC matters
Moving a bike to another state does not need an NOC for the transport itself. It matters when you want to re-register the bike in Madhya Pradesh. Under the Motor Vehicles Act, a registration from another state stays valid for twelve months, and after that you must apply for a new registration number. The Delhi transport office issues the NOC for that, and if the bike is financed, the lender has to clear it first.
Gwalior uses the MP-07 series; submit the Delhi NOC and your Gwalior proof.
Keep two things in mind. A BH (Bharat) series plate does not need re-registration after a state change, if you are eligible for one. And rules for older vehicles in Delhi–NCR have shifted over the years, so confirm the current position for your bike's age before you book. Step-By-Step Booking Process of Bike Transport from Delhi to Gwalior: Pickup To Delivery
This is how a normal booking runs. Our how it works page has more detail.
- Send your details. The form above takes a minute. We need the bike model, whether it starts, and the two addresses: one in Gurgaon Sector 56 or elsewhere in Delhi NCR, one in Gwalior.
- Compare and confirm. You get a written quote with the days. Pay a small booking amount only after reading it.
- Clear the bike. Remove the helmet lock gadgets, mirrors-mounted cameras and luggage. Keep one key and the RC with you.
- Handover in Janakpuri or nearby. The crew walks around the bike with you, notes every mark, ties it down and hands you the condition sheet.
- While it travels. Keep your phone on. A delay from weather or a breakdown is reported to you, not hidden until the due date.
- Delivery slot. The driver calls before arrival. Share the exact address, gate and a person who can sign.
- Inspect and close. Match the bike to the pickup photos, start it, and note any damage on the paper before you sign and pay.
In Gwalior we usually deliver to City Centre, Thatipur, Morar, Lashkar, Gola Ka Mandir and Maharajpura. Lashkar's old lanes are narrow and busy, so we use the nearest main road.

Mistakes People Make On This Bike Shipping Route (And How You Avoid Them)
- Booking too late. Last-minute bookings get whatever vehicle is free, often at a higher rate. Book three to five days ahead on this route.
- Trusting a verbal promise. If the days or the price are not on paper, they are not a promise.
- Leaving accessories on. Mirrors, GPS holders, saddlebags and phone mounts go missing or break. Take them off.
- A mistake specific to Gwalior. Expecting a metro-style slot. Gwalior drops are often grouped with the Agra and Jhansi deliveries, so a day's flexibility helps.
- Not planning the drop. Typical delivery areas include City Centre, Thatipur, Morar, Lashkar, Gola Ka Mandir and Maharajpura. Lashkar's old lanes are narrow and busy, so we use the nearest main road.
