Delhi To Bhubaneswar Bike Transport Basics: Distance, Time, And Why It Varies
Infosys, TCS and other IT parks, plus AIIMS and the state government, have made Bhubaneswar one of the faster-growing cities on the east coast, and relocating families bring bikes with them.
This is a long one: about 1,750 km and 6–8 days on the road. Anyone who quotes you less than a week for a haul this size should be asked, politely, how they plan to do it. The route normally follows NH19 through Kanpur, Varanasi and Ranchi, then the Rourkela or Kolkata road to Odisha.
| Road distance | About 1,750 km |
|---|---|
| Standard transit | 6–8 days |
| Express transit | 4–6 days |
| Starting price (commuter bike) | ₹5,950 onwards |
| Pickup | Delhi and NCR (Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad) |
| Delivery | Door delivery in Bhubaneswar and nearby areas |

Why the timing changes
A long haul of more than 1,700 km can run across two seasons. Winter fog early on and cyclone or monsoon weather near the Odisha coast later are the usual causes of delay.
Besides that, four things move the date more than anything else:
- How often carriers leave for Bhubaneswar. A bike booked on a day when a vehicle is already loading leaves sooner than one that waits for a full load.
- Season. Winter fog on the Uttar Pradesh stretch and monsoon flooding between July and September are the two seasons that stretch delivery dates.
- Where you are in the NCR. Pickup from Delhi proper is quickest. If you are in Gurgaon, Noida or Faridabad, mention your sector when you ask for the quote.
- Who receives it. A delivery that needs an RWA letter or gate pass takes longer than one where the driver can park outside and hand over.
How to Ship my Bike! - 3 Ways To Transport Your Bike From Delhi To Bhubaneswar
There are really only three options. Here is how each one works out on this route.
1. Door-to-door by covered carrier
This is the usual choice. The bike is packed at your door, travels in a closed vehicle and is brought to your Bhubaneswar address. Budget ₹5,950 to ₹8,150 for a commuter bike and 6–8 days of transit, and keep your phone on during the trip. Read more on our door-to-door bike transport page.
2. Railway parcel
On this distance, parcel trains involve more than one connection, and a bike left at a transfer station gets damaged more often than one on a single carrier. If you do try it, book a direct service where possible, and ask the parcel office at Bhubaneswar whether they take two-wheelers. More on that in our train vs truck guide.
3. Ride it yourself
1,750 km means 5 days of riding and 4 hotel nights. Fuel alone is about ₹3,700 for a commuter and about ₹5,550 for a 350cc bike. It is a real trip, not a relocation tool, and a long ride ages tyres, chain and brakes. Few people do it for a house move.

At this distance, a covered carrier is the only practical way to move the bike, unless you want an adventure. We handle everything from motorcycles and scooters to Royal Enfield and sports bikes.
Delhi To Bhubaneswar Bike Transport Costs: What You’re Really Paying For
No one should pay for a Delhi to Bhubaneswar bike move without seeing the full breakup, so here it is.
| Bike type | Price range (incl. GST) | Delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Scooter / moped (up to 125cc) | ₹5,500 – ₹7,250 | 6–8 days |
| Commuter bike (100–160cc) | ₹5,950 – ₹8,150 | 6–8 days |
| Royal Enfield / cruiser (350–650cc) | ₹7,150 – ₹10,000 | 6–8 days |
| Sports bike (300cc+) | ₹11,350 – ₹15,850 | 6–8 days |
| Superbike (650cc+) | Quoted after we know the exact model | |
Where the money goes (commuter bike, mid-range quote of ₹7,050)
| Item | Approx. amount |
|---|---|
| Line-haul freight (Delhi to Bhubaneswar) | ₹4,450 |
| Loading, strapping and standard wrap | ₹750 |
| Door pickup and door delivery | ₹750 |
| GST at 18% | ₹1,100 |
| Total | ₹7,050 |
Extras and adjustments
- Transit insurance: optional cover at 2.5% of what you declare, never below ₹300. Declare ₹80,000 and it comes to about ₹2,000 plus GST.
- Express delivery: costs roughly a quarter more on the transport charge and cuts the trip to 4–6 days.
- Depot instead of door: if you collect from or drop at a transport hub, you save about ₹750 plus GST.
- Premium wrap: adds about ₹900 for extra padding and a crate-style frame, worth it for a new or high-value bike.
- Difficult access: a narrow lane or a low basement can mean a smaller vehicle for the last stretch, and that can cost extra. Say so when you ask for the quote.
The price rises with distance, but not in a straight line. The first few hundred kilometres cost more per km than the rest, because loading, packing and paperwork are fixed. The Safety Checklist Before You Pay Any Advance for Bike Shipping from Delhi
Before any money moves for a Delhi to Bhubaneswar booking, go through these points. They apply to every company, including us.
- Get the quote in writing. It should name the pickup address, the Bhubaneswar delivery address, packing, insurance, GST and the days promised.
- Ask if the bike stays on one vehicle. Over 1,750 km, a transfer at a hub is where most damage and delay happen.
- Look at the insurance papers. Find out what is covered (theft, accident, loading damage), what you pay first, and whom to call if something goes wrong.
- Do a pickup inspection. Photos or a video of the bike from all sides, with the odometer reading, and a signed condition sheet.
- Ask for a contact number for the trip. Someone should pick up the phone while your bike is on the road.
- Do not pay in full upfront. A small booking amount is fine. If someone asks for everything before pickup, that is a warning sign.
- Check the company is real. Ask for the GST number, the registered office address and a landline or office you can visit or video call. Search the name with reviews.
- Plan the Bhubaneswar delivery. Patia and Chandrasekharpur have many gated apartment blocks that need an entry slip for outside vehicles, so ask your association in advance.
Documents You Usually Need for Bike Transport from Delhi to Bhubaneswar (And When NOC Matters)
Crew at pickup will ask for a short set of documents. Registration in Odisha is a separate job that you do after the bike arrives.
- RC (registration certificate): a copy goes with the bike, and the original stays with you.
- Loan papers: if the RC shows hypothecation, carry the lender's consent letter for the move.
- Addresses and phone numbers: a working contact and a landmark at the Delhi end and at the Bhubaneswar end.
- Valid insurance: a copy of the bike's current policy.
- Authorisation letter: if someone other than the owner hands over or receives the bike, with their ID.
- Owner's ID: any one of Aadhaar, driving licence or passport, with the same name as the RC.
When NOC matters
Moving a bike to another state does not need an NOC for the transport itself. It matters when you want to re-register the bike in Odisha. Under the Motor Vehicles Act, a registration from another state stays valid for twelve months, and after that you must apply for a new registration number. The Delhi transport office issues the NOC for that, and if the bike is financed, the lender has to clear it first.
The RTO Bhubaneswar handles registration, and it asks for the Delhi NOC and an Odisha address proof when you re-register the bike.
Keep two things in mind. A BH (Bharat) series plate does not need re-registration after a state change, if you are eligible for one. And rules for older vehicles in Delhi–NCR have shifted over the years, so confirm the current position for your bike's age before you book. - Delivery slot. The driver calls before arrival. Share the exact address, gate and a person who can sign.
- Check, sign and pay the balance. Compare the bike against your pickup photos before signing. Write any scratch on the delivery sheet at the time.

Mistakes People Make On This Bike Shipping Route (And How You Avoid Them)
- Booking too late. Last-minute bookings get whatever vehicle is free, often at a higher rate. Book three to five days ahead on this route.
- Leaving a full tank. Carriers can refuse a bike with lots of fuel. Keep about a litre.
- Trusting a verbal promise. If the days or the price are not on paper, they are not a promise.
- A mistake specific to Bhubaneswar. Not allowing for the coastal weather. Between October and December a cyclone alert can pause movement for a day or two.
- Not planning the drop. Typical delivery areas include Patia, Chandrasekharpur, Saheed Nagar, Nayapalli, Khandagiri and Jaydev Vihar. Patia and Chandrasekharpur have many gated apartment blocks that need an entry slip for outside vehicles, so ask your association in advance.
